The internet users in the country grew 5.4 percent to 251.59 M in January-March 2014 quarter, The Parliament of India was informed today to press.
The number of Internet users was at 238.71 M in December 2013, Minister of Communications and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad was announced in a Lok Sabha.
As per The National Telecom Policy, 2012, specifies a target of 175 M broadband connections by 2017 and also 600 M broadband connections by 2020.” He added in Lok Sabha. Also in 251.59 M Internet users about 60.87 M where Brandband Users.
Maharashtra Including Mumbai and Goa had the highest number of Internet users at over 40.21 M and followed by Uttar Pradesh including Uttarakhand at 24.32 M and Tamil Nadu has 20.41 M and Andhra Pradesh Including Telangana at 17.63 M.
The Minister also said that Himachal Pradesh had the lowest number of Internet Users at 2.04 M.
Government of India also plans to implement Broadband for rural areas and also they are planning to develop 100 Smart Cities in the Country.
